They're made of a firm rubbery body, with a synthetic leather vinyl? covering that is stitched up nicely. The short handle is designed to meet up with a Shimano Nexus twist shifter. I used a thin coating of contact cement to secure the shorter grip, making sure that it would not twist. They feel great, even after a 50 mile ride. These would be best suited with an upright city style bicycle, where the handlebars are pointed back more towards the rider, than out to the sides.They're pleasantly understated, and have held up for 200-300 miles worth of commuting in a muggy spring and summer, and are showing no wear. The nice thing about the synthetic leather, is that it won't be affected by water. Also guilt-free for vegans. With the affordable price, they represent a terrific value. However, they will fit most any bike with a grip shifter on the right.That said, these grips are such an AMAZING improvement over the standard stock grips. My wife and I had installed them on her bike shortly after we bought them. I was fine with my grips, so I thought. The stock grips aren't particularly uncomfortable, but after riding for awhile, you definitely start to "feel" the grips. When letting a friend test drive my bike, I decided to ride next to him on my wife's bike (that has these great grips already installed) and WOW!! My hands were so much comfortable with her grips! I ordered them as soon as I got back on my computer. I highly recommend them as an upgrade over stock grips. I wanted leather grips but felt leather was too pricey. These grips feel like leather but "weather" like the vinyl they are. While I wanted ergo grips, I didn't want some of the really fat ergo grips I'd tried from other manufacturers. These grips are comfortable for my riding and seem fairly well made. I used this combination of one long grip and one short grip as I had a twist-grip shifter for my Sturmey-Archer 8-speed internal gear hub. |
